Sleeping through

I know it’s the dream for our babies to sleep through. My baby has currently been asleep 7 hours 20 minutes. He has NEVER slept this long and I’m laid awake worrying ha! He is fed expressed breastmilk and has no formula and I’m sure I heard that babies on breastmilk won’t sleep through because they need that nighttime feeding at this age? Please can someone reassure me and tell me their breast/expressed feeding babies have slept through before without formula? I don’t want to wake him obviously but I want to know it’s OK he sleeps this long! They can’t win these babies can they 😂 We just worry all the time.

I do not breastfeed, so I may not be much help, but I think if he was hungry he would still be waking up through the night. So, maybe he is getting enough to eat and he’s at a point of being able to sleep through without needing to eat during the night! I would take it as a win mama! I know when my baby first slept for longer than 4 hours I was the same way and was wondering if he should be sleeping still but as long they are back at or above their birth weight it is perfectly fine for them to sleep through the night and just catch them up throughout the day so that they continue to sleep through the night !!

Is he putting on weight and healthy otherwise? Ours sometimes sleeps from 11-5 ish and is EBF

@Emily Yes tracks perfectly on weight lines putting on lovely and weighed regularly and yes healthy little boy x

My little one went 7 hours without a feed last week.. 2 hours were spent crying and 5 sleeping. She then gifted me with the biggest poo ever! As long as they’re gaining the weight and producing the nappies it should be okay ☺️ x

The most my little boy has done is 2hrs 45 mins so any tricks let me know 🤣

I would say as long as your baby is gaining weight and has enough wet and dirty nappies. Then it’s ok for him to sleep longer, he will wake when he’s hungry,it is hard not to worry, as when my girl first did it I was panicked, but it was only once so far 🤣x

Mine is in expressed breastmilk and usually does 8 hours, has done 9 once and I ended up waking him to feed him and he drank half and went back to sleep 😂 just enjoy the rest! I was also laid awake the first few times but I'm used to it now

My LO also shocked me by sleeping for 7hrs and i thought it was a once off but she is still doing it. She is exclusively breastfed. I checked Dr Google and its normal for babies to sleep for longer stretches at night at this age. We are clearly doing something right.

My ebf baby did 10 hours last night!

My daughter slept 12 hours last night! In absolute shock! Enjoy the rest, he will wake when he's hungry

@Alice I honestly haven’t a clue he just did it. I didn’t do anything different 😂 Hopefully it happens for you x

@Kirsten Thank you I think I won’t worry if he does it again it’s just that shock the first time lol x

@Ash Oh I hope so! Let’s hope he keeps doing it 🤞 x

@Charley Must be something in the water!!! X

@Rebecca There’s a few of us got a good night last night then x

My little girl is exclusively breast fed and has slept through a few nights. Some nights she will wake after 3-4 hours and others like last night she did 10.30pm-5am. I always hope she’s got the hang of it then she humbles me with waking after 3-4 hours the next night. She’s putting on weight is happy so I’m more than happy for her to sleep through if she wants (she’s 9weeks). Although my boobs know about it when she does long stretches!

@Rachel Yes my boobs soon let me know 😂 Theyvwere very engorged and leaking all over lol! See what happens tonight 😬 x

@Sarah last week he started doing longer stretches, like 5 and then 7. The last 4 nights he has done 10 hours! He goes down about 7/7.30 and sleeps until 5/5.30
