Put a pad on the wound. Don’t take the adhesive off. The fupa will hold it in place. I changed the pad once a day. I used a hair dryer after showering to keep it dry. The pad will keep the area dry. They sent me home with a wound vacuum on the wound dressing for a week. It will heal and I just washed it and kept it dry. Massage the wound around 3 weeks to start getting the nerves working again. Desensitize the wound area.
Thanks so much both! I feel really stressed about it!! Xx
@Chloe I was too but it all worked out. I didn’t have any infections.
I was too! I had my husband checking it every day! But everything turned out great, and I didn't have any setbacks. Hopefully everything goes well for you!
Let soapy water run over it in the shower, and then use a hair dryer on the cool setting to ensure properly dry afterwards! after about 2 weeks I used soap as I was comfortable to do so, and mines healed perfectly 9 weeks PP!
Thank you all!! X
Take a shower daily. If you have antibacterial soap use that but other than that no soap. And then pat dry with a towel or paper towels during the day. And just be gentle and keep it dry
Dry with a hair dryer i was so worried about this and asked every midwife and the answer was keep as dry as possible then I saw an elderly midwife who had been a midwife for 50 years and I know things change but sometimes the old advice is the best advice and she told me to dry with a hair dryer and then fold some kitchen roll under my belly where my scar is and change it Often I used to wet it first before taking off and changing it I was worried it would get stuck to my incision then I used to lay down for a bit and air it out and it worked the best now I’m 4 months pp and it gets sweaty and itchy sometimes so I use liquid talc and its amazing my scar is barely visible I can only see about an inch of it
I used a handheld fan to dry it and then stuck breast pads in the crease to help with any moisture…my boobs dried up and I continued buying breast pads for that reason 🤣 they were softer than regular pads to me
My doc had me use silver alginate! My hubby would help dry it out after a shower and then the alginate helped keep it dry.
