Toddler sleep regression/ crying in cot

Hi mummas I need some advice I’m really losing it with the lack of sleep and especially on the weekdays when working it’s more difficult I’ve got a 23 month old and since coming back from holiday two weeks ago he won’t sleep in his room/cot and is hysterical every bedtime he used to self settle since 8m but totally off it since we’ve been back. weve managed to put a matress on the floor and he will only sleep on that if we sleep next to him but he doesn’t go down for 2 hours if we try and leave and he sees or hears us he will wake and cry again! Literally don’t have time for it! Any advice? Is there some 2 yr regression pending 😭😭

My little one wouldn't go back in his room after he got sick and was in our bed a few times. So he has a pullout elmo couch and I would make him sleep on that next to our bed. When he tried to climb up, I'd roll over and just hold his hand but putting him back on the elmo sleeper. After a few weeks and he got comfortable we started going back in his room. So now one of us stays in there until he falls asleep. Right now he wakes up once at 4am every night, which I can take compared to where we were. So we just walk him back to his bed until he falls asleep again. But eventually he will stop this soon too
