Speech Delay

I’ve suspected my 19 month old had delayed speech since she was about 14 months old but I didn’t want to get ahead of myself. I figured I’d be more proactive and talk to her more, read all the books and sing all the rhymes. TBH I’ve seen progress but it’s definitely slow. We’re starting with a hearing test before proceeding to speech therapy but I feel like it’s too late and I might have ruined her chances by not taking it seriously when I had the concern initially. Are there any moms with kids in speech therapy? How are they doing? Do you see an improvement? I know it’s better late than never but I need some reassurance 🙈🙈

Did your doctor express concerns at 18 mths apt? If not, i wouldnt worry. Is more than one language used? If yes, i wouldnt worry. You can sign up for speech therapy as there are waitlists if youre concerned.

Doctor just said we should do the hearing test first and go from there. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Her daycare also worries that she doesn’t respond to her name but she does at home, sometimes.

It’s never too late to do speech therapy. You will definitely see improvements. Sound like you are doing all the right things, a hearing test and speech therapy. Check if you child care works with a resource consultant, they can also support your child’s development at child care.

@Maria I will find out. I know some of them do
