Anyone successfully weaned baby of their dummy? Tips please

She currently only uses it for bed and nap time so it's associated with sleep.

We decided to stop from 1st Jan, he used to have it at nap time and bedtime only too. We just went cold turkey I was worried how he'd react but honestly it's been ok. He needs a bit more help settling but nothing a cuddle and shhing etc doesn't solve. Hope it goes smoothly when you feel ready to do it

Yes I did when she was 4 months old couple of bad nights but all good so worth it. My little boy had his until 2.5 years old not fun with illnesses and keep having to put it back in during the nights. So much easier without we just went cold turkey xx

We decided to wean off at the start of December as she was waking herself up every time she lost her dummy, we did night time first then nap time a few days later. As hard as it is, we found we just had to do it, so we found other ways to soothe her because dummy was just no longer an option. She actually slept better from the very first night!

Thank you all , that's helpful to know. I planned to stop after 1 years as we're flying long haul and thought it'd help on the flight. But not sure if i should just stop cold turkey now after reading your replies.

We stopped cold turkey just before 6 months and not had any issues. She didn't even ask for it. We only gave her a dummy as she was a comfort suckler (breastfed too) and my nipples couldn't take it 😅😂

@Ebony same i couldn’t do anything, now she feeds and most of the time when she is no longer hungry stops and searches for the dummy. I feel too scared to stop as it helps with settling her back to sleep

@Sarah I've managed to get her down to a feed to drowsy then cuddle till asleep. The night cuddles are the best and honestly help me get ready for sleep too lol. She mostly wakes for night cuddles now
