Delayed PND

Hello, looking for some advice really. I think I may have delayed postnatal depression. I have a 2.5 yr old and my nearly 9 month old. It started just before Christmas and it’s come out of nowhere - insomnia, crippling anxiety, absolutely terrified to go out, don’t want to see friends, struggling to find enjoyment in anything. I have never felt this low. I’m not sure what to do or who to talk to so any advice is welcome. Thank you!

Sorry you're feeling this way, I hope you feel better soon. It may be best to talk to your GP who can refer you to perinatal mental health team they're amazing or the GP can support you too. Take care x

Hi Mental health OT here 🙋🏼‍♀️ I believe there’s no set time frame for such to appear / come on. I’d say well done for noticing the signs. Personally I’d keep a log of there (a note on your phone or note pad). I’d either speak to the GP if you feel pharmaceutical Intervention may help or Signposting to services - or ask for your HV to drop in. Side note - I took myself away for a few nights months back. I desperately needed me time and I felt so much better afterwards. Making time for you is so important. Big or small. I’ve just been charity shopping alone for 90 minutes / bought loads of bargains and then came home to continue mumming. Can you get an afternoon off anytime soon? Do something / do nothing ?

Thank you for your support and kind comments. I love my children so much, they sleep well and eat well and give me zero stress. I actually feel worse when away from them. X
