How can I do that sorry
I feel like I did have an oversupply my milk didn’t stop for ages but my son is currently on 6oz every 3 - 4 hours
If he is hungry could I try to put him on the boob see if he can get milk out or is that a bad idea
Sorry just seen this. In the shower under warm water you just massage the whole breast if I’m honest this doesn’t always work for me, you can look up videos on how to do it though. I personally think that once baby is latched you will be fine. I would personally try with baby. Maybe do formula and breast while you get him use to it. If you have a pump that will give you an idea of how much you have. Also some times babies can reject the nipple after having bottle but see how you get on. There are also centres/meeting places you can go to for support and my health visitor gave me this breastfeeding link https://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/ It may be helpful to you 🙂
My baby doesn’t latch he does but not for very long how can I change that
And how can my milk come back if it dries up ?
If I give him boob and bottle to start with until my milk supply comes back in how long will it take
It might be that he now prefers bottle. You could try and squeeze a bit so he tastes/smells it on the nipple and then try to latch. If not then call the health visitor for help and guidance. I don’t think the milk does come back if it’s completely dried up, I could be wrong but that’s why I mentioned the pump to see if you can express to encourage the milk.
Yes you can get the milk back - look up relactation - the best way is to always give your baby boob first then when he gets fed up finish off by giving a bottle so it tells your body how often baby wants to feed so your body knows when and how much to produce. If you have a pump you can also try pumping in between feeds too whilst you try to get your supply back. Also as mentioned before massaging your breasts and using warm compresses is good to encourage milk to come down the ducts. Can also look at fenugreek supplements. Always best to speak to your HV as they have lots of advice on things like this and can recommend different techniques and helping to get baby to latch better! I thought my baby was having latching issues for months but turns out she was pulling off because she had a cows milk protein allergy which was upsetting her tummy
You could try to encourage the milk in the shower to see how much milk there is or try to express it to see how much you have so that your baby won’t be hungry but I’m guessing your milk supply will pick up the more you use it. You could ask health visitor for advice though ☺️
