Csection & nerves

Hey, I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips for nerves on the big day, haha. I have my section at 12 pm tomorrow, and it's my first baby / first big operation. So I'm feeling all the emotions, haha. Any tips will be a big help!

Just breathe - it will go quicker than you think ☺️

It was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had!!! I was full of nerves and excitement! Just try and stay calm (easier said than done!!) 🩷🩷

You’ll do great! It’ll be over before you know it and as it’s planned it should actually be a really lovely experience. I’ve had 2 c sections (both planned, for different reasons) but both were beautiful. Try to get excited about the moment you get to meet your new baby! Agree with previous comment re: lots of deep yoga breathing. I also had relaxing yoga type music that I brought into the theatre with me on a Bluetooth speaker that really helped keep me calm. My partner just kept it down low by my head and docs were all super relaxed about it. The anaesthetists and midwives will be lovely and take good care of you. Good luck!!

Did an antenatal class and then walked us through the entire process. Would definitely recommend a quick google to know what to expect for it as there were lots of bits that I didn’t know about (nothing negative at all, actually made me feel better if I needed one) xx

I had an emergency section with my daughter and it was also my first big operation. I was petrified but I can happily say now that it was such a positive, happy experience for me. It was over so fast as well! You’re going to be great! Tips wise, bring a portable fan to the hospital with you. After the surgery I was sweating like crazy and I didn’t have a fan so couldn’t do an awful lot about it 😂 and a large water bottle. Comfy clothes to change in to when you’re allowed to. Oh and I’m not sure if this is all hospitals but the anaesthesiologist who looked after me put my favourite music on to help calm be down a little so maybe have an artist in mind just in case ☺️ Congratulations in advance! X

I had an emergency section after a very traumatic labour and honestly, it was the most amazing experience. The only part of it I found ‘stressful’ was trying to lean forward and hug a pillow with a massive belly 😅 while they put in the spinal block. They were playing music, chatting about their daily lives. It’s just another day in the office for them and it was so so lovely. Make sure you get lots of photos!! I didn’t get any of the ‘simba’ moment and I’m sad about that so make sure to ask your midwife to take some. But breathe and try to enjoy it! Next time I’ll be opting for an elective because it was so chill! Good luck and enjoy your baby xx

My nerves were so pointless and such a waste of energy. The section (and recovery) was the dream. My nerves did my heart rate no favours and I needed a little close monitoring until it went down. Just breath. It will be magical. Baby will be here safely soon. Positive thoughts only 🤍
