DayQuil while breastfeeding

Does anyone know if I can take DayQuil while breastfeeding? I have such a bad chest/head cold and I don’t know if it’s safe.

I think they typically recommend Tylenol Cold & Flu if you’re breastfeeding!

I’ve taken it while breastfeeding. Only DayQuil though, no NyQuil. I did notice a slight drop in my supply by 1 or 2oz while taking it. I had an oversupply though so it was fine for me. If you are an under supplier or a just enough-er with no stash I’d try something else!

@Korissa okay, I make a good amount and have a stash in the freezer. So I may just try that. I was mainly concerned if it was safe while breastfeeding because google was confusing me.

I was told regular DayQuil and not anything that said extra strength or severe version!

@Sheridan what my nurse told me was that a ton of stuff will say don’t use while nursing bc of lack of research. Obviously nobody wants them & their baby to be a DayQuil lab rat 😂 so they just say not to as a precaution. I believe the worry is with your supply, a lot like Sudafed. NyQuil is the one you can not take bc of the Dextromethorphan! 🩷

@Korissa okay thank you so much!

@Danae Handley thank you so much!! 🩷
