Talking

Is anyone's 13 month old saying any other words apart from mama, dada and baba? Iv seen so many videos "how my 13 month old pronouncing words" and they are actually saying them but my daughter isn't and trying to use flash cards is a nightmare because she either won't pay attention or she's busy focusing on something else. I'm so worried I'm not doing enough

I wouldn’t worry too much yet. I’m a little skeptical about parents that say their children are saying hundreds of words. As long as she is showing signs of progress and general development, that’s all that matters. Like my boy doesn’t say lots of words but he is showing signs of comprehension. Like he will follow commands. This week learnt how to climb up onto the sofa and how to climb down the stairs. Would I have preferred it if he learnt some more words? - of course. But unfortunately we don’t get to pick what new things they learn.

No chance here, she says nana for banana, mama, dada and that's it.

Don't worry about it. My LO is saying loads of words but is nowhere near walking yet. They are all different and all develop differently. My LO will walk and your LO will talk 😀

My little girl is 14 months old and babbles away to herself! The only real words she can say is baby, mama, bye and hello. Everything else is just gibberish! 😂 but she is also just this week starting to do animal sounds lie moo, baa, meow, woof and roar. So I wouldn’t worry at all they all develop at own pace and the words will come soon! 😊

My little one is 13 months and been walking since her birthday but definitely doesn’t say much , I think they’re either just walkers or talkers !

It is allll personality, I think. I didn’t speak AT ALL until I was 2 (my parents thought I was deaf and took me to a specialist lol), but, when I did speak, I started speaking in sentences. I just signed for what I needed/wanted until I decided to talk. My baby is so vocal, however. She sings, makes animal noises, is always babbling away in gibberish and says words with intention (like mama, daddy, hi, hello, bye, I love you, yellow, hot, etc). I wouldn’t worry as things can change ALL OF A SUDDEN at any time. Who knows what’s going on in those little brains of theirs
