Breast refusal

Anyone else gave their LO refuse the breast? I’m having no issues breastfeeding at night but no chance LO will latch in the day

Yes, but my baby has developed a feeding aversion due to fast let down/oversupply. He fed really well until he was 7/8 weeks old. Now he has only fed when very drowsy, asleep or at night since early November. Not sure how long this has been going on for you, but it’s definitely worth looking into feeding aversions. This website has a lot of information - https://www.babycareadvice.com/blogs/breastfeeding/breastfeeding-aversion Hoping it’s just a short term thing for you though!

I had that last week, I had to distract LO with a dummy as he was getting irate on the nipple then once calmed down I removed dummy and he latched and ate. Nighttime feeds were easy. They really do test us haha xx

@Rachel This is probably the most accurate description I’ve had! Our breastfeeding support groups said nipple confusion or just the regular “distracted baby” period. He will feed when drowsy but if he wakes up more during he will kick back in anger

@Rebecca they do, don’t they😅

Could always just be a nursing strike but it’s definitely worth keeping an aversion in mind as to not add pressure etc. We’ve had absolutely no support or guidance through the NHS, only bad advice to pressure baby to latch etc, or to keep feeding him in his sleep (which isn’t sustainable) 😩
