Baby Group Anxiety

Hi ladies, anyone else experiencing major anxiety and mum guilt about baby groups/classes? My baby is 4 months old and I haven’t taken him to any baby groups. I don’t have a car so any travelling requires figuring out buses/trains (I don’t live in a city) but then public transport takes so long I’m worried about wake windows/naps/feeding. I’ve barely left the house with him since I had him, other than just a walk around near where I live. I feel so guilty about it, like he’s missing out on so much stimulation but I am frozen with anxiety about attending the groups and how on earth I’ll get there and back without screaming tears and a baby who’s schedule is totally out of whack, please help 😞

could you maybe do a couple practice runs with the transportation and see how it goes? Sorry you’re having a rough time w this 🫶

Yeah that’s a good idea, it would encourage me to travel a bit further and deal with that anxiety first before I attempt to deal with baby group anxiety ❤️ thank you x

Of course. Good luck 🩵

Did you know babies don’t need baby groups? Yes! They are made for parents/ mums. So if YOU want to go, then do that slowly. If you’d only go for baby, then leave it and enjoy time alone together or whatever else you do. I personally skipped the groups as I hate them 😄 my baby is very sociable and happy

@Moon thank you!! That definitely takes the pressure off x

Honestly, second time around I don’t think I will do as many baby groups as I did last time. I felt like I ‘should’ for the baby, but so often he would sleep through them anyway 😂 I actually think it was more for me - to get me out the house. And this time, I think I’ll just go for more walks. The baby will be stimulated by anything and everything!

Pls don’t feel under too much pressure! I have 13m twins and I’ve only taken them to library story time when I have the nerves to tackle it. It just feels too much in between naps, anxiety and just getting out! I’ve returned to work this week and people keep asking me if I took them to sensory etc but I’m ok I haven’t they are fine happy babes! I do try to take them out the hisue each day for walks or into town etc. don’t be hard on yourself ! Xx
