Pumps per day

How many times do you pump per day, and is it enough or do you need to supplement? I've been pumping 8 times a day for the first month and just went down to 7 so I can sleep longer at night. So far my supply seems OK. 🤞

I’m almost 9 months PP and I do 4/5 a day! I did go crazy in the beginning thanks to PPD&anxiety and was pumping every hour or two for weeks, gave myself an oversupply and have weaned that down to a small ish oversupply (30-35oz a day at max) I missed my motn pump a few times by accident and thankfully didn’t tank my supply 🙏 It did drop for the past month drastically tho and I thought it was bc of dropping pumps but it turns out I was incredibly anemic and needed hospital intervention so iron levels are very important for milk 😂

@Francheska oh wow! I hope you are feeling better and I will keep taking my prenatal vitamins with iron! I'm pumping for twins so my goal is 50 oz a day... It's a lot to maintain!

@Caroline oh wow bless you!! I bet! My GP said iron is a big thing since breast milk comes from your blood so keeping your levels good is one of the best things to do! That and hydrate. Honestly I forgot to take my vitamins for like 2 months and assumed I was fine 🤦🏻‍♀️

I didnt see any change going from 8 to 7, I was producing over 40oz every day. I saw a dip going from 7 to 6, but was still in oversupply. When I dropped from 6 to 5 my supply maintained for a while and then dipped once my period returned and it never quite recovered, but I'm not worried since I have a huge freezer stash from the beginning. I'm currently 7months pp. If you want to maintain for twins, I would say to stay at 7 pumps for a while.
