*trigger warning: miscarriage?*

Backstory: On January 4th, we inseminated (ovulation day), and by the 13th (9dpo), i tested positive on 3 pregnancy tests. On January 14th, I started spotting, but by the next day, I was full on bleeding until january 23rd. On like the 18th, we got bloodwork done, and it showed elevation, so my dr said it looks like im pregnant but might be having a chemical pregnancy. She wanted me to go back for bloodwork on the 20th, but i didn't because it was coming out in clots, and so, at that time, it was obvious i was having a chemical. Literally bled for like 9-10 days, heavy! After the bleeding stopped (because I wasn't sure which was the chemical and which part was my period as it was due during that time), I started using LH strips to track ovulation. I guess I figured it would take us about a month or two before we could try again as I read online that it takes the body about a month to regulate after a chemical/miscarriage. On February 3rd, i peaked so we inseminated that day. I didn't ovulate until February 4th. I tested positive for pregnancy on three different brand tests on the 13th, which was 9dpo. I tested again the next day, and all 3 were positive. I tested again on 12dpo, also positive and again on 14dpo. So, I reached out to my doctor and went in for bloodwork yesterday (I was supposed to have my period on the 18th). My BCHG level was 1,736. That's great because it means the tests are all right, and I am pregnant. MY QUESTION/CONCERN: i was curious about the level, so my ass went on *cough cough*, google... and it said that those numbers would put me between 4-7 weeks. But that's not possible because I literally inseminated like 17/18 days ago. I'd be like 2 weeks and 4 days if anything... UNLESS... did i not have a chemical pregnancy?? I go back for labs tomorrow morning. I asked my dr if I could get an ultrasound just to see if a sac is there (i figured maybe we'd get a better idea of baby's age if we take a look because at 2 wks nothing would come up but if we can see little tiny bean in there then...maybe I just didnt miscarry?) But my anxiety is ahhh because my brain is "well if you didn't miscarry then you took no prenatals those weeks except geritol and coq10..and is the baby even okay?" To "say I did miscarry and the baby is just 2 weeks are the numbers high because of twins since apparently it happens to older people?!" Does anyone have any experience with this?

So sorry for your losses. With any pregnancy it dates back to last menstrual period. So at two weeks you really are just ovulating. Two weeks after ovulating would put you at 4 weeks pregnant.

@Kiera i guess that part is the confusing bit. Because for this cycle we used two vials and only on feb 3rd. So with ovulation happening the next day...it has only been 17/18 days since sperm has been placed inside. I can't be 4 wks pregnant. Thank you. So far I've only experienced one chemical, as for this one well there hasn't been any bleeding or anything like that. And so right now I'm still pregnant❤️

You could have not miscarried. There are a lot of reasons to bleed like that in early pregnancy and still be pregnant. Without confirming if your HCG rose or lowered after 48 hours you can’t know for certain. Hopefully they can get you in for a scan to get some answers

If you got pregnant again on Feb 4th you’d technically be 17/18 days pregnant but the doctors will still add like 2 weeks to that number because they’re weird and base it off of period dates not conception dates (even if you know specifically which day you conceived) but it’s possible you didn’t end up miscarrying & you should get an ultrasound done!! Or maybe it’s twins?🤷🏼‍♀️

@Ali i didn't go back for bloodwork that time because it was just so much blood that I was like "obviously I'm losing the pregnancy" yk? Then, I took two tests during that time, after the initial bloodwork and the test were negative, so I just let myself ride it out. I'm going in for a 2nd lab for this cycle (what I'm assuming is a "new cycle") and I'll see what the numbers are. I have a video appt next week with the prenatal team, and then we can go from there, but I can't get an ultrasound right now since I'm only 2 wks preggo? Despite what the numbers are showing. I'll see if the dr next week can get me in for one, though 🤞🏽 it's causing anxiety. I'm trying to stay calm, but I just need to know... if the baby kept, and if so, are they okay?! or if I did infact have a chemical and this is a new pregnancy, then is it just one or twins 😭😭🤣

I went to a women’s clinic separate from a doctors office and they did my first ultrasound at 4 weeks so I’d look in your area for something similar they might do it!

Gotcha. I didn’t realize you took tests after. I just know there are people that have full on periods and clots and still keep the pregnancy. You don’t have to worry about not taking prenatals. It was a short period of time and a lot of people don’t take them prior to pregnancy and are fine. You also would be considered around 5 weeks (at this time) because you are supposed to count from your last bleed not from when you ovulated. That being said, based on ranges, your HCG would fall in a “normal” range.

@MaryKate i just made an appt for one on Tuesday. They're gonna do a standard one and a vaginal. Thank you for recommending this!
