Fibro, meds, and pregnant.
Hi,
I’m new here. 5 weeks pregnant and Mummy to a 14 month old. This is my first pregnancy as my partner carried our first.
I’ve had fibro for 20 years (since my early teens) and my meds have been pretty stable for a good few years now. As soon as I got a positive test on Friday I stopped taking my tramadol and I’m going to book into the GP this week to discuss my other meds and find out what is safe to be taking properly but I know the tramadol isn’t particularly safe..
I’m in HUGE amounts of pain and suffering with unbearable restless leg (and back and arm) pains which are stopping me sleeping.
I will do anything and everything for this pregnancy to be healthy and progress as it should. My body is not the best and I’m terrified as to whether it’s up to the job. I’m badly overweight from years of pain and meds and need to figure out a way of becoming as healthy as possible to take care of this tiny one I’m growing.
Anyone who has experienced pregnancy and fibromyalgia please let me know any advice on surviving this without pain meds and what I need to talk to my GP about the most urgently.
Thank you.
I am overweight and was moreso when pregnant, I went off my lyrica (pregabalin) when pregnant and I really think it almost killed me. Eventually I took a low dose gabapentin just to take the edge off at night. Also heat pads and I would also take baths every single night. I would make sure they’re not too hot though (cause too hot baths aren’t great for the baby either but probably still better than tramadol right) but I totally understand exactly where you’re at. If you want to message me please feel free. My son is 2 now and I’m not sure if I want to physically carry another child and this is part of the reason.
