Negative comments

How do you deal with opinions and negative comments? My MIL told me I was being ridiculous because I want to try giving birth without an epidural. She kept saying I have no experience and I should listen to her about how painful it is. I was actually looking forward to labour but now I feel nervous in case I need an epidural… I’m stubborn so will feel like I’ve failed and she’s won! She also keeps telling me to breastfeed like it’s her choice (I plan on doing this if I can anyway). Just so frustrated and worried I’m going to have comments all the time once little one is here.

Please don’t listen to people and their birth advice. I had an unmedicalised natural labour it was fine. Plan to have the same with my second. Just make the right choices for you. You know your body. And yes you haven’t given birth before but you can go in with a plan and if it doesn’t work out that way then it doesn’t.. as long as you and baby are healthy that’s all that matters. As soon as you get pregnant everyone wants to tell you what to do and how to do it. Just have confidence in what you want and make informed choices - block out the noise.

Wow, your MIL is an idiot lol. Well girl, I've had 3 babies (all natural deliveries) with no epidural, so you definitely don't NEED one! All I had was gas & air for my 9lb 9oz baby, you got this!

I had 4 failed epidural ( I didn’t want them to consultant told me I had to have them for safety) I gave birth to my daughter just on gas and air I was so proud of myself and so was my partner. Don’t let anyone force you into something you don’t want. It’s your body, not hers x
