Exhaustion…

How are we convincing ourselves to go to the gym? I have been exhausted constantly and my partner always wants me to join him at the gym. I just am struggling though. I loved the gym until I was about 3mo pregnant but now I dread it. Currently 32 weeks, I know exercising is the better option but I just don’t wanna do it. Pls help

Yeah, at 32 weeks you don’t wanna do anything! It’s a mental struggle and a physical struggle to go. If you set Little goals like maybe walking a mile and doing some light weights you’ll feel better and get some energy back. Don’t do heavy stuff to where you overwork it and don’t wanna do it anymore. Just suck yourself up for a little at a time and you’ll feel like you’re accomplishing something. Give yourself grace. 32 weeks hits you hard.

Take breaks when you need them! There will always be time to work out, pregnancy is such a small percentage of your life! To me it makes me have a sense of accomplishment and makes me feel strong so I enjoy it but when I know I need a break I take it. Breaks are just as productive

I swore up and down I was gonna be going to the gym on the regular like before. That quickly ended after mid second trimester…. And I really didn’t go during the first trimester because of sickness 🤣 I do go out and shoot basketball with my boyfriend every so often when it’s nice out but I’m quickly tired. I’m 27 weeks and I just plan on continuing my stretches for my own good. My man realizes I just don’t have the capacity haha.

If you can continue doing some weights, it is really developmentally beneficial to your baby in utero! Something about weight bearing exercises helps with baby’s muscle development as well, like it gives them a head start. Just listen to your body, but you should really continue to at least try to walk a mile each day if possible, and then beyond that if you can do some weights and stretches, it will all help you post partum. Just watch your HR and if you get out of breath slow it way down and take a break. My third trimester was so hard but I still walked at the very least, even as I got super slow and waddled lol! You’ll get through this, mama!

Go and do stretches or the elliptical. At 32 weeks I wasn't doing much. But I started doing prenatal yoga and that was pretty chill and felt good.

Pretty much doing prenatal yoga and going whenever I can. Walking whenever I can. Giving myself a lot of grace during this period. Do what feels right to you mama ❤️

I didn’t do the gym but I walked 2-3 miles about 4x a week until I was 7-8 months pregnant. And it wasn’t easy. For me, wanting to make birth easier and help With my SnapBack motivated me

I work out at home and I find it really removes the barrier. I don’t need to “get ready” or drive anywhere. Maybe try some home workouts?

I stopped working out at like 10 weeks or so after years of going to the gym and being in the best shape of my life. I started doing at home workouts when I was about 10 weeks PP. I’m so happy I took the break. I was afraid if I pushed myself to go, I would end up dreading it and hating it where as usually it’s my happy place

I worked out throughout my last pregnancy mainly because I was already working out with my trainer friend and our small group, so it was fun. Plus, like another poster said, the snap back was also motivating, though, in reality, was much more challenging with the last kiddo for whatever reason. I did a modified HIIT cardio class at Life time fitness to get her out, and 2 days later she was here. Bottom line, working out with friends who lift us up and make it fun helps. Idk about with a partner as that would seem more frustrating to me. Haha. Alternatively, Nike Training Club is a great and FREE app that has workouts designed for each stage of pregnancy as well as postpartum. Some workouts on there can be 5 minutes, which gets the body moving and may help you find the motivation to do more. FitOn is another great option especially when working out with friends. There are forums to post on and motivation one another. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Supplements/pregnancy-safe adaptogens could also be helpful.

I just started doing stretches and taking walks then started the gym on just the weekends !
