Sleep training

Help šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ my baby is almost 8 months and still waking up 7-8 times at night. Often every 30-45 min (sleep cycle I assume) Crying. And I have to give boob to calm him down. Pacifiers donā€™t workā€¦ he just wouldnā€™t take it at night. I want to start sleep training but it seems like all involved crying outā€¦ I donā€™t wanna do it , is there a gentle sleep training method? Or perhaps someone can share what they do when baby is crying at night (besides giving a boob).

I wrote a whole response to you and deleted it. Iā€™ll just share this- my daughter is 3 and in her other group on this app, there are women with toddlers desperate to get their kids to sleep on their own and absolutely miserable because they didnā€™t sleep train earlier. 18months + they can talk, hit, walk, jump and that to me is a horrible recipe to try to sleep train. I challenge you to think about you as a mother- are you best when you are well rested? Because I sure am and my babies can be left with anyone sleep anywhere but still allow me to give them the love they need outside of sleep assistance so the need is not lost. I am not a good mom exhausted and sleep training improved my marriage, my mental health, and my kids health because they can get good quality sleep. Sleep training is short lived if done right with lasting results. Itā€™s not easy but itā€™s so so worth it for your family. I suggest paying for taking Cara babies courses.

My son is 7 months and only wakes up 1-3 times at night we always try to feed him baby food or oatmeal around 7:30-8pm so we can give him a bath after that stay up for like 30min-1hr and he will pass out until like 2am wake up to breastfeed for a bit and go back to bed and sometimes he will sleep until 8am or just breastfeed again and sleep until 10am

I agree with the second comment about food. My baby used to be like that but I notice the more solids he eats especially before bed the better he sleeps but be careful that itā€™s not gassy foods. I also do oatmeal or broth before bed because it calms him. Also if your baby is breastfed pay attention what you eat- although people deny it affect it does. Whenever I take doses of vitamin b or d on top of my regular vitamins we have an absolutely miserable nightā€”same thing with caffeineā€¦pay attention to your and baby eating patterns. Good luck!

Thank you ladies, usually I give a bottle I tried to give solids like yesterday gave it another try and gave full dinner with chicken and avocado .. all it did is made him wanna poop at 5am . Will try oatmeal tonight. Thank you for suggestions šŸ™

Itā€™s like that at first because their stomach has to develop to digest bigger stuff but oatmeal or broth before bed usually helps. Good luck itā€™s not easy I know. My baby was like that until solidsā€” also if you donā€™t have a solid schedule during the day try itā€” it helps night sleep. He now goes a good 4-6 hours initially and then 3+ hours after. If I take vitamins heā€™s up every hour or half hour. Last note- teething also can affect sleep- consider orajel or drops. Good luck!
