@Josie I already have and basically they just kept on telling me that we have to wait until she's over 3 years old because in apparently they don't check for kids with autism until they are over 3 years old x
Has your daughter had a 2 year HV review? It maybe worth reaching out to your HV for advice, all little ones are different but they should be able to offer advice x
@SophieAnn I’m sure I’ve seen other posts where they had started the process, or speech/language therapist as in the 2 year review they check what words, phrases and sentences can be said
My son is almost 27 months and he’s had a speech and language referral recently, so you can definitely get started on that sooner! In my area you self refer your child but I’d ask your HV what the system is for your location :)
I’m a children’s speech and language therapist. I would recommend getting a referral to SALT. You don’t need to wait until they are 3, we see children as young as 9 months old. You may need to be a bit pushy with them to insist it happens but I’d defo recommend getting it explored.
My son who's now 7 didn't speak until he was 4 when he started nursery he had speech n language therapy and it didn't make abit of difference yet he's perfectly fine now my daughter who is 2 speaks alot as she's learnt from my son I honestly wouldn't worry your child will speak when she's ready 🙂
Have u had a recent health visitor appointment? I just had one for my 2 year old last week. If u are yet to have one then when ur appointment is due u can mention it or u can ring them and tell them ur concerned
I think maybe you could contact your hv or gp for advice or a referral as they would know best if she is showing autistic signs
