We're currently dealing with exactly the same dilemma so you're certainly not alone. We tend to feed him when he goes go bed, even if it is early and whatever he wants to drink, he can or whatever he leaves is absolutely fine too. We basically just try and send him to bed topped up as much as we can lol
Following. I don’t have any answers but have wondered the same thing. I have no idea how people hit a precise bedtime every day when the timing of the last feed depends on the previous nap/wake window. We aim for 8pm but really it’s 7-9pm!
Similar to above I just offer him a feed anyway as a top up . I tend to find because he's tired and often associates feeding with sleeping he'll always have at least something. Tonight for example he fed at 6pm and then I took him up after bath at 6.45 and he fed again even though it had only been 45 mins. Worth a try! If we do bottle rather than breast I just do a small 50ml bottle so that if he doesn't want it I've not wasted too much and then if he wants more I just top it up
@Leyla Thank you for that! I still wake in the night to pump I’d say every 3-5 hours. Basically, I don’t set an alarm so if baby sleeps through I may miss the 3 hours but as soon as I wake I pump and I never sleep through as I wake to full boobs. Still minimum twice per night x
Thanks everyone for responding! I’m going to try the bed and top up that people have mentioned for a few days and see if it works for my little boy. I’ll make a smaller bottle as mentioned and top up more if required. I’ll update how I get on for those also wondering what to do like me 😊 x
We’ve just started more of a routine the last few days. She was also starting to show signs of wanting to sleep around 7pm so we just started giving her a bottle at 6.30 and then bed for 7pm. We’re on a loose schedule so feeding 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and dream feed at 10pm. Also exclusively pumping with one formula bottle x
I am the same! Exclusively pumping and feeding almost every three hours. When he is tired he just fights for sleep and started not to follow my pumping routine. Now, I keep the milk and feed him when he is awake next. As you are exclusively pumping, do you still wake up at nights every three hours to do the pumping? Thanks!
