@Rose thank you so much, I needed that
Make sure baby is always shaded when outside, especially since they can't use sunscreen until 6 months! My little wears a lot of hats. It happens though, so don't beat yourself up too much. Keeping the skin moisturized is the best thing you can do for fast healing.
If you have access to a pure aloe Vera plant - cut a leaf open and apply just a little with coconut oil onto the skin 🤍
My 4 month bubba got a little sun on his cheeks today too, he’s fine! I live in AZ so it’s rather impossible to keep him completely shielded from the sun
aloe or breast milk if you have any 🩷you’re not a bad mom i bet baby seen it as such a fun and pretty/beautiful day
Aloe vera
@MK just as a point of clarification, it’s not that sunscreen is likely harmful for babies below 6 months (particularly mineral sunscreens), it’s that they just shouldn’t be in the direct sun at all. Pediatricians often give the no sunscreen advice because shade should be the biggest priority!
@Ellen Correct, I actually work in pediatric medicine. We advise no sunscreen because there is very limited research on the effects of any type of sunscreen so we can't say 100% that it's safe for them (even the mineral ones) but also because shade should be top priority. I should have said "shouldn't use sunscreen" instead of can't.
All I here to say is, don't beat yourself up! Things happen. Very cute happy healthy baby right there! You are a great mom!
