Speech theraphy

Anyone starting speech theraphy? My daughter is 18 months and she is saying some words but in my view not consistently enough. I told the ped in her 18 minth check and we were referred to speech theraphy. I feel like we failed.. but at the same time I have talked to her a lot exactly as the books and every expert say. Like, I did my research.. I have been talking to her, building the communication blocks yadda yadda.. and.. it just so happens she is not a chatty box.. at least for now. Honestly my biggest concern is.. we changed daycare from only spanish to only english. I feel it affected her in the communication.. up yo that point she was listening only spanish all day every day. After the change is daycare in english and spanish at home. Anyways, if there is something it can help her.. why not. I'm excited about her starting and being able to communicate more. I know she understand a lot and complex instructions, she is just not talking.

The switch from Spanish to English likely played the most significant role. My nephew had a Mexican nanny and was being taught Spanish and he was speaking more Spanish than English. It delayed the English. She may improve since no longer there

We are teaching my son Spanish and English as well and he will be starting speech therapy. He’s 19 months now and only says three word in addition to mama and papa. It is super hard because I too feel like I failed!

Iv messaged you x

My daughter is 18 months too and starts ST next Tuesday maybe we can tell each other our stories and figure out how to help our girls better
