@Amber what would you say was key. Consistency? As I am topping up with bottles but worried they are now used to the bottle. Also, did you feed one at a time or tandem feed them?
I fed one at a time , always , biggest advice , power pump twice a day to keep your supply, I used to give EBM via a bottle just before bed , eat and drink plenty !! Xxx
Yes consistency and perseverance. Don’t be afraid to ask the mid-wifes to check your latch and help with positioning. My twins were in neo natal for three weeks and needed some tube feeding but I still tried to breast feed them at every opportunity. I tandem fed mine when in the house but single when out and about. I had a peanut and piglet pillow which helped for tandem feeding.
@Sally In the hospital I asked the midwife to check my positioning, they said it was good, but no harm in asking again. LO's are not able to latch due to disappearing/flat nipple so I have been advised to try nipple shields, this has been somewhat helpful so far. I will continue trying. Thank you both for your tips and advise, much appreciated and glad to know it is possible to breastfeed with twins.
Managed 6 months with twins , born at 34 weeks! It was hard work but so lovely !! Xxx
