Naps

We are trying to get our little one to fall asleep on his own during the day, he is perfectly fine at night! We started working on the first nap of the day as I keep reading it’s the easiest. Well for us it is the worst! Wondering about other babies?

I’ve found replicating slightly the sleep routine really helps. So white noise if you use that at night, sleep bag etc. I’ve not fully mastered it yet but I’ve managed to get her down on her own, but not quite been able to leave the room yet, but it’s definitely going in the right direction now, as I really struggled as well. Also have no issues at night though! 🙈 x

It should be the easiest but if you’re finding it difficult it could be that baby is overtired… so try reducing the wake window and putting them down a little earlier to find the sweet spot.

I find lunch time nap the easiest and she will settle in her own morning nap and late afternoon os a nightmare

Our late afternoon nap is the worst by far… most of the time he won’t settle gets himself so crabby and overtired I end up putting him in the pram for a walk to make him sleep even if it’s for 20 mins, as he won’t settle at night if he’s overtired

We did the same after a night that she fell asleep happily on her own. I thought let’s try to replicate the whole situation 😅 it hasn’t been the same obviously 😂 but we are getting there even though she does not like going to sleep in general. We found first nap easier to work on and the afternoon ones (mainly the late afternoon one) the most challenging unless we are out and about.

As I wrote this, he started falling asleep on his own for most of his naps. Still can’t believe this 🤣

1st nap she tends to have the most sleep pressure so it's usually OK. Second nap is hard because it's long but also she's less tired. Third nap I find to be ok because we just do 30 mins in the pram
