Baby doesn’t like being read to

My little girl doesn't sit still long enough for even a page of story time. I'm not worried about it as there attention span will get better as they grow. She's more interested in Trying to walk than look at a book
Thank you ladies, needed to hear that! Although he just allowed me to read the whole of we’re going in a bear hunt.. I think because it’s more animated and can do actions 😂
Better than me. My little girl just tried to knock my tea all over me 🤣
Don’t stress it. Even older children aren’t interested. The whole push for reading to children is for exposure to language. The more books read the more language they hear and pick up on. We talk our daughter’s ear off all day every day 😂 so even if he isn’t actively sat looking at the book, he is still hearing the language and so the task is still successful!
My daughter isn’t a huge fan either! She will sit for about 2 pages (if that) and then close the book and crawl off 🙈😂 I still carry on reading even while she’s doing whatever she’s doing- usually causing some sort of carnage 😅
My son has started bringing me books which is proper cute but I can’t get through a page of it without him tearing off to find something else to do, think he just likes pulling stuff off shelves and passing them to me rather than actual books 😅

Do you read yourself? I read a lot and so my little one sees me reading and is always trying to steal my books. I think that is helping her be interested in her own books. She loves them but like you we don’t manage more than a few pages at a time. It sounds like you’re doing a fab job. Stick with it! If you love reading to and with him, he’ll pick up on it and come to it in his own time.
We don't sit and read any books yet, my eldest I waited until he was one. He loves books now at 2.5. My baby girl just grabs the pages and would rather have a feely one too, totally normal
@Hannah yes I do this too!! Glad it’s not just my little boy. I feel like an idiot when he’s just doing his own thing clearly ignoring me sometimes 😂😂

At this age, the attention span is so small that they just simply don't care, but it's still good to just read at them so they are hearing lots of speech.
