Wondering if my DB needs a speech therapist

He still isn't talking. So much babbling all day. The only thing he says is "Ga" which means dog to him. He also says "moo" when we ask what does a cow say. Other than that - nothing. Just babbling. He's just turned 15 months. He understands SO much. Not just simple things like "look at that". But I will say "go to the kitchen and get your car and bring it to me" and he does exactly that. We talk to him ALL DAY! I name things. I say what he is doing. I do all the things that people say to do. Like I don't say "can you say dog". I'll just show a dog, and say "dog". I talk so much, it's crazy. I don't know what I've done wrong or what more I personally can actually do.

You haven’t done anything wrong this is normal, our girl is the same, it will come 😊 x

mine is 15 months but only babbling.. baba mama dada nana and this is recently..he understand few things but yours seems to understand so much more than mine..Ypu haven’t done anything wrong , everything you do is great! i feel like they are so little and is soo much pressure on us and them that they should do something by certain age..😔don’t beat yourself up 🌹

Sounds completely normal to me - keeping on talking to him, modelling words and naming objects and reading books. It’s the best thing you can do for language and speech development.

I could have written this myself. I called my HV as was worried and they wasn’t concerned at all, as long as they are communicating in other ways they won’t really do anything until they have their 2 year assessment😊

He’s showing signs of comprehension which are fundamental for language development, boys tend to start talking later than girls so it’s totally normal. My 16 month old boy doesn’t talk yet but he also understands a lot like “Gimmie kiss” and Mama Dada. He will talk more when ready but you talking to him a lot is great, they pick up on more than we give them credit for :)

Mine just babbles too!
