How are we taking the pacifier?

He’s 19 months now and only uses it for naps and bed time. But I want to break him. However he just screams. He would scream from 2 hours if I let him I’m sure. Here’s the problem. Any time he cries for more than 5 mins his dad gets pissed off and starts yelling to “just fucking give it to him” and then we get in a fight because he’s never gonna get off it if I keep giving it back.

It's so hard, but cold turkey. Your husband is just gonna have to man up 🤷‍♀️ Frida has a weaning system, but it's only for certain pacifiers. I'd do it now before it gets harder 😬

My daughter was a bit older when she stopped. She was at an inhome daycare and we forgot it home one day. And that was it. Some rough times, but overall, it went ok.

How long did it take?

@Shannon I’ve seen that it’s not his kind. Plus he’s bitten holes in them before and sucked like normal 🤦🏼‍♀️

@Sofie he only wants his when he’s going to sleep. He does sooo good all day until he’s tired

For what it’s worth my daughter had a binky until she was three. The dentist told me you would never even know she had one, and that if they have one and they get rid of it before they’re SIX years old it doesn’t damage their teeth. I was tired of getting crap from people because they don’t have their facts correct. If he’s only using it at night, I don’t see the harm in going a little longer for some restful sleep. Of course you’re mama so you get to decide what’s right for you, but what I did with my daughter since she was a little older was, I took her to build a bear workshop and I had her bring the binky and we put it inside the bear so she had a “new” comfort item. This worked out pretty well for us so my advice which you can obviously take or leave would be to wait a little bit longer till he’s older enough to understand the concept of the Bear and try the build a bear method so then you don’t have to feel like you’re taking something away but you’re just replacing their

Comfort item with something new! Just a quick heads up depending on who is working at build a bear. The company apparently doesn’t like people putting “anything in their bear’s” so I did it discreetly with her before we stuffed it.

I will also own fully that I’m going through massive sleep deprivation with my little guy the same exact age, so me hearing that he has a pacifier is Me also assuming that he sleeps the night which sounds absolutely incredible to me 😂 so I’m over here like no mama enjoy your sleep 😂 my son never took a pacifier and I so wish he would have. everybody’s got their own unique struggles!
