I've just had my paperwork signed for my second section. You'll be up from around 8 hours after birth, as soon as your legs aren't numb and your catheter is out, they'll have you up and out around the bed! My LB was born around 2:30am and I was up and out of bed at 8am! I took my LB to the 5 day appointment and then went shopping! But I was up and walking around the house straight away, it's painful initially moving and awkward as you have to pull yourself differently, but it's a bit lile your movement in the third trimester with a bit of pain (not memorable pain). Breastfeeding was more painful! Because of the time my LB was born, we were on the ward from 5am - 5pm the following afternoon, so 36h. (They wouldnt do discharge until the afternoon, and you have to stay 1 night at least. I looked after myself unassisted from the start! The worst part for me was the anti blood clotting injections and the risk factors with the surgery (but that's preference) 😀
I was in hospital 2 days after the surgery, but I was up pretty much the same day in the evening and the day after I was up on my feet taking shower and moving around . It took a week before they removed the dressing and up to 6 weeks for the wound to completely healed inside and outside . I stop taking the pain killers after a week and a half but everyone is different. Hope this helps xxx
I was discharged the following day, a little over 24 hours after the operation. I only needed some help getting around those first 48 hours- and I was alone overnight so did get up to go to the toilet a few times by myself that first night. But getting up was difficult at first, when I was in hospital I used the bed rails to help and just did it slowly. I never needed help getting up and down the stairs and could do this once I was home. I was as mobile as I normally am within a few days but obviously with the support of painkillers for the first 2-3 weeks which I just slowly decreased and just had to listen to my body. Some days I needed more rest than others.
I had my c section at 11am on a Friday and discharged from hospital on the Saturday at about 4pm. They got me up and moving 8pm after my section. Once I got home I was up and about slowly, the only thing I really struggled with was getting myself out of bed. I had to keep getting my partner to help me. Then I stupidly thought we’d go for a little dog walk 3 days pp! Only managed about 5 mins before we turned around, that set me back a bit. So I’d just say, take it really slowly for the first week, you still need to move obviously but just walking around the house with the baby is enough, and keep on top of pain relief. I’d say end of week two I was starting to feel more like myself again. And by week three I was slowly getting out and about with bubs on my own. Like a little walk to the shop, or grabbing coffee with my sister. ☺️
I had an emergency section and was up as soon as the catheter was out, no help needed and could also happily manage baby and nappy changes etc. on day 5 I walked 3 miles with an ice cream break half way! Stopped painkillers after 10 days/2 weeks - biggest pain was not being able to drive
I had an emergency c section. I was in hospital for 3 days. She warn born at 8am, i was out of bed at 4pm. I would have stayed longer but I wasn't getting much sleep on the shared bay. I was able to get up the stairs one step at a time, took me a few weeks to do it not like this. I walked 5 doors down after 5 days and that was enough for me. I had a rough recovery, but I struggled letting people help me
I had emergency c-section, baby was born Thursday at 3am I was already walking at 10am. We were discharged home on Friday at 4pm. Generally I was able to do everything myself straight away. I’m 3 weeks post surgery and I already forgot that I was operated. Everyone is different remember that, some people will need less time some more time to recover.
I was up and about 6 hours after once I got feeling back in my body. Recovery has been amazing and I'm fully back to normal. I was in hospital for 3 1/2 days due to baby being born early and they had to do obs on her x
I had an emergency C section, the next day they had me out of bed and by the evening I was shuffling down to see my baby. I had the op on the Tuesday and by Friday I was being discharged
Thank you all, also happen to have an emergency c section this Tuesday . I can walk etc, but not sure when we will go home yet. Dont feel too bad, but struggling getting up from the bed …
You can be moving around within about 20 hours. And home depends on other things but min 24 hours usually 48. You can so stairs immediately but you just have to take things slow. Slower than you think as a week or so in you feel so much better but you need to be chilled for upto 6 weeks!! It wasn't as bad as I thought at all though.
