Yes, it is safe but it can temporarily dry up your milk supply so be careful.

@Leah OK I just need to take it for like my allergies. Do you recommend any other ones?

@Samantha anything with an antihistamine will dry up your milk. I was a long time user of Benadryl, Claritin, Zyrtec, and Allegra but had to stop because they all dry up milk. This allergy season I've been trying to find a more natural solution, raw honey, local bee pollen, and a neti pot have definitely been helpful. I took Benadryl recently for an allergic reaction and even after 1 dose I noticed a difference in production the next day.

All can affect supply, but I take zyrtec daily (sometimes 2 times a day) and still a bit of an over supplier... I took it while breastfeeding my first as well. I would def recommend zyrtec, Allegra or xyzal instead of benadryl. Also flonase should be safe if just sinus related allergies

I’m scared to take Benadryl. I didn’t know it would make my supply dry up but I’m scared of falling asleep. I used to take it instead of melatonin but not every day and it would knock me out. I wish I could take it. Even if it was for one night. I just need good sleep. But I feel like a bad mother for saying that.

@Angel my doctor told me I could take Unisom on occasion for sleep since I suffer from insomnia. I personally don't think it works as well as Benadryl but it's certainly better than nothing

@Leah I will try that once my baby boy sleeps a little bit longer. Rn he’s only sleeping like 4 hours thru consistently.

@Angel I feel for you, you are so strong! Im truly grateful that my little girl is a good sleeper. She refuses to nap but she'll sleep through the night

Thank you mamma
