Breastfeeding challenges

Anyone else mentally exhausted with breastfeeding? My LO is three weeks old and while he’s a good latcher, he’s a slow feeder (30+ mins) with a short wake window. This past week he’s been fussy with our sessions and it seems he doesn’t get a full feed and wakes up almost every hour after breastfeeding :( . I don’t think it’s cluster feeding because he sleeps longer after getting a bottle. I’ve been pumping to give us a break but it’s emotional not knowing when he’ll be able to exclusively breastfeed with me

My daughter is the same. She’s a slow feeder and won’t pull out enough. So I’ve been pumping. It’s been a struggle. I feel defeated a lot of days.

Keep doing baby to breast and get evaluated for tongue ties and lip ties. The first month is the hardest! It does get better!

yes girl!! i am exhausted lol and i had to stop pumping because otherwise i would be completely dry and have nothing to give her. my baby feeds for FOREVER and she’s colicky 🙃 so i feel ur pain 🤞 at least we’re in it together lol

I had to stop for two weeks I am just getting back to it and building my supply. I am now exclusively pumping unless baby girl is restless and supplementing with formula.

My first baby was a slow/sleepy eater and what helped us was "switch nursing" - I would do 5 minutes on one side, then switch him to the other side, then back to the first. I just gave him 15-20 minutes. The switching back and forth helped wake him up and I guess get a stronger letdown. Make sure they are actively sucking and swallowing also and don't just comfort suck.
