@Sam She's pretty good at sleeping through the night. She has breastmilk before bed and again when I go to bed around 11pm and will stay asleep until 7/8am x
My son is 10 months. I’ve dropped night feeds and to be honest he’s only on two breastfeeds a day. I’ve cut feeds out gradually but just completely stopped one night and decided to sleep train to cut them down. He has cows milk on a morning and he has bob before bed. My daughter was always trying to offer him some milk and when he did try it he loved it. My daughter was weaned off the boob just after 11 months as she had a bad cold so wasn’t latching properly, plus I was pregnant so wasn’t really making much milk anyway. I’ve found my body has adjusted really well to dropping the feeds but appreciate I might be one of the lucky ones
Yes just stop gradually, no more than one drop at a weeks time, your flow wont randomly stop.
Do you want to stop generally or only because of the teeth? With the correct latch you can’t feel their teeth my son has a mouth full and we still nurse. Each to their own just if the teeth are the only issue you have options! 😊
@Yasmin she bites me on purpose. 😢 She knows what it is to bite. I don't want to stop completely. But I would like her to stop biting me and to also be able to have a morning or afternoon off occasionally. I'm a single parent, and she hasn't been able to go anywhere without me yet x
After 1 food becomes their main source of nutrition so you get a lot more freedom back! I work and have a long commute so me and my son are often separated 13/14 hours! When she bites do you unlatch and stop the feed? They usually clock on pretty quickly that biting = no more milk and stop. She could also be teething, the only time my son has ever bitten is when he’s got sore gums. It feels nice for them and they don’t realise it hurts you, you could try teething gels/ toys before a feed they may also help if you are wanting to continue even in part x
@Yasmin how do I drop the milk feeds after 1? I still feed on demand, and that's 5 times a day at the moment. She has a feed in the morning upon waking up, then 11 am, then again between 2 and 4 pm, bedtime 7pm, and between 11pm and middnight. When she bites me, I stop and tell her no, we don't bite mummy, and she didn't drink milk all day Friday because of the constant biting. She wouldn't even latch on just bit me straight away every time. It was definitely her teeth and she's ok again now but she was clingy all day because she wanted milk and wasn't drinking it. I use anbesol liquid and bonjela to try and help with teething x
They usually say to first drop nighttime feeds , that can help them sleep through the night.
