20 month old still not talking

My just turned 20 months and still isn’t saying many words. A referral for a speech therapist has been put in, but still haven’t heard anything. I would love some advice on what to do, I feel like i’m failing. He’s said Mama, Dada (a few times), ball, yuh (yeah), oos (shoes). He signs for more, all done, & waves hi/bye. He mostly babbles and yells. Any advice would be really helpful, thank you🫶🏼

It’s frustrating at times but just be patient and keep doing what you’re doing. You are doing amazing mama. My 20 months old daughter is still not talking other than mama, dada and baba. She is also scheduled for speech therapy in May. According to her paediatrician, she is perfectly fine and nothing is wrong with her as far as any health issues concerns. She passed her audiology test. She understands any and everything our family say to her. Everything will be alright and stay positive ❤️

My 20 months is only saying a few words to but mostly signs and babbles. The pediatrician said most babies around this age vocabulary ranges from 7 words to 20 words

My almost 20 month old does not talk a lot either. He has yet to say mama. He makes a lot of babbel, dada, papa, bubble trash truck, apple. I’m not overly worried yet. Our daughter was the same way. 3 weeks after her second birthday she started talking and basically spoke short sentences from the beginning. I continue to read a lot for our son, and say the word for everything he points at. Maybe it’s similar for you.

The best thing you can do is just keep talking to him. Narrate everything you do, I’ve been doing that with my daughter and it seems to really help her
