My oldest sweats like that and he is 5 about to turn 6. In my experience it doesn’t actually affect them it’s just their body doing things and growing. He will especially sweat right before a growth spurt. You say he is sweating in the back and head which is like my oldest honestly I want to tell you that it is nothing to worry about. Now your baby’s sleep schedule should be talked to with a doctor to see if they are needing something more during the day, (your baby should be around 7/8 months so they might be needing more solid foods or more exercise time. Like practicing standing or sitting up or anything that causes them to make an effort. ) I have noticed with my youngest if I don’t make him do something in the day than he won’t sleep at night. Too much energy. My youngest is waking up once a night right now with morning wake up being at 6am.
I was told it’s normal as thy are just regulating their bodies natural cooling system.
My 7mo is the same, she often gets little heat rashes mostly on her back from sweating overnight 😥
I have the same issue with My baby 8 months old and he is waking up every 2 hours in the night but I think it’s the teething
@Judy Yes, he is a summer baby I suppose (born in August), although I'm not sure how that's relevant, but I have two other August babies, and never had a problem like this with them. We tried putting him to sleep in a diaper only, but then his chest, arms and legs get really cold.
@Amanda Thank you for your reply! Even if it's normal, I'm pretty sure it's affecting his sleep because the moment I pick him up and his back airs out, he falls back asleep.. I never had any similar problems with my two other kids (they are 2.6 and 16 years old now).
Ditch the sleep sack or go 100% cotton and sleeveless! My baby was getting heat rashes and now she sleeps in just a long sleeve bodysuit, she’s still a little furnace until about 6am
@Lexi Thank you! I did try both 100% cotton and sleeveless, as well as just a long sleeve onesie. In a long sleeve onesie his legs get very cold at night, but the back is still sweating..😞
Is he a summer baby? My summer baby has done the same since ever and even now at 2.8yo he still sweats. Both nap and bed time. It helps to keep them hydrated, you’ll probably realise that your baby will drink much more and much often :) We’ve tried everything. The only thing that really worked for us is - Summer sleeping in nappy only, winter sleeping in shorts, no top, or still just nappy. Edit to add: he uses thin blankets / muslin cloths in summer and thin summer duvet in winter ☺️
