Just transitioned my 16 month old from co sleeping to crib in his own room. More below

Last week I slept in an air bed in his room and it worked well. First night he cried for 15 minutes and the rest nights a couple of minutes when he woke up. This week I'm back in my room and he is crying longer and waking up more. He doesn't stop crying while I'm in the room, he only stops a few minutes after I leave the room. IDK if I'm doing this correctly but I'm feeling badly about him crying and being alone.

hmm, it sounds tough, but honestly, it's pretty normal for them to cry when they're adjusting, just hang in there! Just looked it up on the 'Heal Baby Care App' and here's what it says: "It's understandable to feel concerned when your child cries, especially when you're trying to help them adjust to sleeping independently. It sounds like he may be experiencing some separation anxiety, which is common at this age. You might consider gradually increasing the distance between you and him while he falls asleep, or using a comforting item like a favorite toy or blanket to help him feel secure. Have you noticed any specific triggers that seem to make his crying worse, or does it happen consistently when you leave the room?"

Thanks for looking that up! When I slept in the room it went well. Now I'm out the room he seems to cry so much longer and will fall asleep sitting down instead of laying down which freaks me out. When I was in the room he used animals to sleep with + a blanket and still has those things.
