Has anyone found any good mental health support groups and how did you find them?
I’ve been searching and searching for a mental support group where I can express my struggles and relate to others. So far the only thing I’ve found was an insurance-based DBT class. It gave me a great set of skills but wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been less social lately, turning down mom meetups and not reaching out for friendships because of the amount of stress-induced depression I’ve been struggling with. My counselor told me I need support right now, though I can’t seem to break out of my shell to get it. I hate feeling like a dark burden to the other mothers who are happy to just sit and chat and laugh. I need someplace where I won’t be pitied because of my silence (happened before) or forced into idle small talk. I am unfortunately a bit socially awkward (from the trauma of being isolated throughout my childhood) and do struggle with acceptance. I digress, if anyone knows how to find a good support group please comment! 💜 I’m in Pierce County if that helps.
