Hayfever and babies 🥲

Anyone’s baby have hayfever or pet allergy? If so how did you find out they did and what were the symptoms? Lo is 6months old and has extremely swollen eyes and keeps rubbing them, and he has been sneezing occasionally the last few days. My husband and I both have bad hayfever so wondering if so does he 😢

Im preetu sure babies can't get hayfever before 1. But it's really rare for a baby to show symptoms or have a reaction before 2 years of age. All hayfever medication isn't safe until 1 year. They could potentially be having an allergic reaction to something else instead. If there 6 months I'm assuming ur weaning so I would look at that first as potential allergic reactions before hayfever if u can't find the cuse through food, or laundry detergent, medications etc. And symptoms stay the same or get worse over the next few days then take doctors x

@Willow that’s very interesting! We have only been giving vegetables, porridge and rice as we have been scared to introduce dairy/egg due to the eczema. I also thought it might be food but not sure which one can cause swollen eyes. we saw a friend with a pet and i am wondering if that can be a potential allergen too?

I think the same thing works for pet/animal allergies as hayfever they generally don't show symptoms or reaction until 2 years old. Obviously there is an expecting to everything. Is it both eyes or just one, could be viral conjunctivitis which spreads easily to both eyes. Wipe eyes with cotton pads with cooled boil water give it like a day or 2 and if it's still there go doctors and maybe get drops, Obviously if it gets a lot worse or concerning get them seen straight away. But babies r just weird sometimes my baby had red, itchy eye, swollen and gooey for 12 weeks with no explanation didn't even have an eye infection x
