Reduced movement

I’m currently 32 weeks and I usually have a very active baby. Today it’s been very quiet and I’ve not felt any movement. What can I do to try get baby moving before getting checked?

I’d ring up if you’ve not felt any movement today but I found a fizzy drink, a bath, laying on my back or side for a bit would help with my first x

If you've not felt any movement ring triage and go straight in. They will hook you upto monitor. Don't wait around! They will happily see you straight away.

Babies only sleep for about 45 minutes in the womb . Go lie on your side and try to time a movement. Sometimes just focussing on it makes you tune back in and realise they are movements. But if in doubt call and they’ll just invite you in to go on the monitor and do it there. They’d always rather see you and send you home with a kicking baby than not at all.

My midwife told me that baby should be moving on their own without prompts. Whilst it is reassuring if they move after we prod them/drink cold water etc, there could still be something wrong so always best to get checked if baby isn’t moving on their own xx
