Wanting to sleep on side or front

My little one is 4 months and always has been very active with her movements. She has now learnt how to roll but only been doing it consistently for the past couple of days. She’s much better at rolling onto her front than front to back. Since she’s rolled she’s trying to roll in her next to me crib. As she likes sleeping near the side of the crib anyways to be near our bed she’s now getting stuck as she can’t roll over as there’s no where to go . This is making her frustrated and waking her up lots in the night screaming . She is also automatically going onto her side when I lay her down. Anyone else been dealing with rolling in the next to me crib and having problems? We’re already going through a sleep regression so this added on top means little sleep for both of us . Xxx

My LO does the exact same and I’ve just left him now too sleep on his belly and we now get a good 10/12 hour sleep at night and he is completely fine in his cot x

Did he cry for the first couple of nights due to the change ?

Yes he did and sometimes he still does but we’ve noticed it’s because on his belly he gets really sleepy so we think he’s just fighting it Xx

Our little boy started doing this last week and I was paranoid about him on his tummy or getting his face stuck on the side of the next to me and not breathing so it was a hard few nights where i constantly rolled him back over or moved him over to the middle, which he hated!! So then I left him on his side or on his tummy and made sure his head was to the side so his nose and mouth were clear and he slept so much better... I also think we're in sleep regression so not always having settled sleeps but seems to help with him on his side or tummy :)

Just to add it doesn't help me sleep because I wake up loads to check him 😂

I could have written this exactly myself. My little girl just turned 4months and has started rolling from back to tummy. She’s rolling in her sleep as she now hates sleeping on her back and prefers sleeping on her tummy or side. I barely sleep as im constantly checking to make sure she’s not on her face as sometimes as she’s sleeping she doesn’t position her face properly. Its so scary but if I try to put her on her back she immediately rolls back on her front or she’ll wake up and cry. I’ve started to co-sleep (as safe as possible) so she’s closer to me to be able to adjust her head if possible. I just wake up often to check or when i feel her move. The other thing i do is make sure she has a dummy as she positions her head to the side better to keep her dummy in so better for to breathe. So hard though, its a constant worry x

I’m exactly the same. My anxiety is through the roof. The other night I moved my LO back three times. On the 3rd go I seemed to wake him an he cried inconsolably for 25 minutes. Felt like the worst mum ever but I couldn’t sleep knowing he was on his side. NHS and lullaby just say to keep placing back on back unless LO can roll back and forth. My LO can only roll back to front only 😭

@Nicola absolutely the same for us. But now she’s sleeping on her front. I tried to put her back so many times . Ended up just watching her most of the night!
