Folllwing as I’m in the same situation and also looking for some advice
Have you try changing the nipple of the bottle? Maybe one that resembles your nipple?
I’m in same situation. Tried pretty much every bottle going and different teat sizes aswell. Also tried 4 different types of formula which she has no interest in at all. I expressed some milk and she took that but it’s just finding the time to pump on top of feeding on demand 🥲 I just keep thinking, it won’t last forever! Xx
@Tiawanna yeah he was taking a bottle for first 5 months of his life so we’ve carried on using that bottle. He has a latex teat dummy so also got some bottles with a latex teat but no luck with that either
@Ellie I was expressing and he would take that from a bottle but think all of a sudden my milk has high lipase and he won’t have it because it tastes soapy when heated so been trying formula. I’m just stressing because the countdown to going back to work is on and I work 13 hour shifts 🥲 you are right though, it’s just a season of life! Xx
@Sophie have you tried straight from the fridge or room temperature? My LO loves his expressed milk straight from the fridge. Just thinking you said it goes soapy when warmed so not warming it might help? Bottle wise we use nuk bottles and teats and never had any issues. It might be the suction doesn't work now he has a stronger suck, causing the teat to compact and no milk getting through? Water from the munchkin 360 no spill cup. We started with an open cup and he'll happily drink from an open cup too.
@Lucy what a great idea! No we’ve not tried this, have just been trying with formula more recently but obviously it tastes so different to my milk! Will absolutely give it a go. I’ve also not long bought one of those cups because he will have the occasional sip of water from an open cup. This is giving me hope, thank you! X
Can you request a different HV or visit a family centre? You should be referred to a lactation consultant for help. Maybe LLLGB can help too, I’ve linked an article below but I know they also offer local groups and individual support. https://laleche.org.uk/thinking-of-weaning/
Have you tried Lansinoh teat? My combi fed baby uses that as per lactation consultant recommendation
My 8 month old is ebf and we’ve been trying to get her used to formula too but she never took a bottle. She got on really well with the munchkin 360 cup and we’ve started consistently giving her formula with her breakfast which is helping. But tbh when my partner has her for the day she really doesn’t have much if any milk but is happy to eat solids then have some big feeds when I’m home.
Following my baby is Ebf. It’ll be ideal for him to take a bottle at times but he doesn’t at all and chews on all teats!
