Milk supply

I’m bf my 7wk old and I feel like my milk supply is decreasing. I’ve noticed when I’m not full my baby is struggling to feed. She whales and cries when I’m BF her it’s on and off. So Im trying to pump but the issue I’m having is that when I pump before feeding her. By time she wants a feed my milk flow is really slow and she gets tired and screams so I end up giving her a bottle :(

what’s your hydration like?? are you making sure your eating little snacks throughout the day in between meals?? also are you still taking prenatal/postnatal?? try adding lactation supplements to your routine i would also pump and feed at the same time. pump one boob and feed on the other it’ll help keep your supply going. is she also latching well? cause that can also affect your supply.

I drink 1ltr a day. What pumps are good as i have the mommed pumps. I use nipple sheilds so I can’t really tell about her latch c

i use mom cozy S9 pro and i love them.. i also drink coconut water and the lactation mixes to add some variety and switch up to the mix it has helped me with my supply

1l is very little, you need 2-2.5l Also, 7w is when your supply regulates, so it's normal to feel not full, your body is not storing milk anymore, but producing as needed. As long as there is a 20-30min gap between feeding and pumping, you shouldn't have an issue of not enough milk, sounds more like a growth spurt, when your baby does all of those things to tell your body to produce more coz she's growing up

@jasmine thank you I’ll have to try something

@Lenka do you think because ive dropped a night time pump thats also contributed to decreasing my milk supply? Maybe I shouldn’t have stopped. I just get so exhausted nursing her throughout the night that i end up going sleep as I know she’ll feed again within 2hrs

@Amber yes absolutely this will effect your supply. I know it's draining but those might pumps/ feeds are ones that really support healthy milk production. If you aren't pumping at night when she is awake feeding on the bottle that's a feed your body is now registering as unneeded.

Generally speaking, baby is better at getting milk out than a pump. First thing I'd do is find a qualified lactation consultant to help check latch, etc. In the meantime I'd also try switching to pumping after a feed rather than before, that way LO takes what they need without getting too frustrated and the pumping is still telling your body that there's more demand so that it will increase the supply. Drinking enough water and eating enough is definitely important too. There's no good evidence to support lactation supplements/cookies/whatever, and some evidence suggesting they may actually be counterproductive, so I'd save your money on those personally

@Amber at his stage it shouldn't have an effect. Do you exclusively pump? I would just do straight from breast at night, look at safe cosleeping and that will save your sanity
