9m yesterday days dada all the time has only said mama twice, she says a bunch of other stuff. I just don’t understand what she saying 😅💕

I'm in same boat as Liz, says Dada all the time (gets mad when he doesn't respond) but never says mama (unless throwing a tantrum cuz I walked away) Ive gotten into this thing of every time she says "da" I say "ma" back lol

@Moira that’s a good idea. I’m gonna start doing the same with my little one and as a last resort I might have to move my husband out of the house till she starts saying mama lol

@Liz💕 If I remember correctly it's around this time that they start to realize they're their own person (which comes with the separation anxiety), so dada comes first cuz you and baby are one being until now, so my hope is that in the next few months she'll figure out mama XD

@Moira ohhh yeah that’s right , yeah hopefully soon lol 🥰

My baby will repeat certain things like Hi or Yeah if I say it in a really excited high pitched voice. She says Dada with no problem at all and will say “mama” if I say it to her a million times but not clearly lol. She mostly says “mmmmm gahhhhh” and other babbles and words are far between. She will be 9 months soon lol

They might be babbling but usually they don't put a meaning to a word until 12mo

Just so people know, dada is a significantly easier sound for babies to make because it is a tongue sound, where as mama is a lip sound. My husband went with Papa (also a lip sound), and my son has accidentally said both mama and papa but not with any recognition that he was saying our names.

He never babbled much but randomly started saying words this week, hot, boop, all done

Its funny mine says dads but when she's crying shell only say mama
