Pacifier help

My 3 year old still uses a pacifier at night to go to sleep. And she is obsessed with it. She now knows it's only for sleeping but I can't get rid of it and my husband HATES IT! when she was over a year old we tried the "put a hole in it" but then she started hiding the not broken ones around the house and it broke my heart to see her upset.

Dealing with the same thing with our 3 y/o daughter. Nap and bedtime only. It’s honestly me bc it’s easier sadly. It’s horrible so I feel you. Has her teeth been affected?

Cut it!! Start with a very small slit in the nipple then next week cut a small triangle shape, next week cut the tip and then keep going until it’s gone. While the whole time you just pretend like it’s normal, don’t acknowledge the cuts just keep giving it like nothings changed. We did this with our 2 1/2 year old and are currently doing it with our 1 year old and it’s worked very well, you’ll see their confusion but don’t acknowledge it

@Sheila yes, totally easier. I don't think it has messed with her teeth but the husband says he's noticing a lisp . But idk, I do have her 1st dentist appt in 2 weeks so we'll see what happens

@Star omg...my husband told her last night, you don't need your binkie cause you're a big girl. Only babies use binkies. And she told him " I'm mommy's baby" lol. I mean she's right. But maybe that did trigger something 🤔

@Cristina yea mentally kind of drained right now but has to be done. It’s to the point where she puts herself down for naps bc she knows she’ll get the paci in her bed so she’s looking forward to it🥴 many have said that putting a whole in it method works
