@Ashley growth spurts cause sleepiness? Jw my 6 week old has been insanely sleepy today and last night
@Elizabeth yes, absolutely! They sleep a LOT when going through a growth spurt. It goes in cycles. They will cluster feed like crazy, then sleep what seems like forever, then you'll be upping clothing and diaper sizes!
Has she been assessed for a tongue or lip tie?
@Leann the lactation consultant said that she doesn’t seem to have any ties. But I have my doubts. When she puts her tongue out it forms a ‘W’ shape
You may want to go to a pediatric dentist!
Get her naked before eating. Change diaper and turn all the lights on. It sounds mean but do the thing that you know is gonna make her cry. For my baby that is changing his diaper. For some babies, it’s taking their clothes off. Eating is very very important at this point
I agree with Leslie when it comes to feeding baby skin to skin! Just in a diaper, when she’s a lil cold it should keep her up
@Leslie I do skin to skin every single feed. Also rub wet wipes on her face and body periodically. She sleeps through it. She even slept through blood drawing yesterday and the nurse was super happy while I was crying.
@Leann I finally got an appointment . Will update
I have had the same issue with my baby. He is toooo sleepy to bf. I have tried everything! We still continue the routine of BF then pump then formula for each feed since my supply is not catching up even at 6 weeks
How long has this been an issue? Have you checked with her pediatrician? If it's a new thing, it's prime growth spurt time, so very normal. But if it's been ongoing and she's not getting enough nutrition or gaining weight, it's definitely an issue that needs addressed asap! My first thought if it's an ongoing issue, would be bilirubin, or blood sugar. Both of which need to be addressed right away.
