My oldest was talking at age 9mo. My youngest didn't start talking til about 2. He's around only adults and no one spoke baby talk to him. At 22mo we went to a friend's 3yo birthday party. I mentioned to my friend and her cousin that my son wasn't talking yet. They both simultaneously said Ms Rachel. I'm not a fad person, so I had stayed away. After they suggested it...within 2wks he was talking. Now he's 3, he is a chatterbox. He's talking in not only sentences, but paragraphs, telling stories I detail. I think being able to see a real person in a bigger than life, saying engaging toddler things is very helpful. If she already watches it...watch it with her, repeat it to her, sing the songs with her, play with her like Ms Rachel does. I think Blippi & Meekah has helped my son be more creative. I know screen time is considered bad, my oldest didn't watch kid TV til he was 2. My youngest, my husband started when he was like 8mo, but hubby is addicted, so I knew it was only time. But the screen time at my
CONT... house is on our living room TV & watched as a family, for a certain time-frame. So it's more interactive than a kid just sitting with a screen in their face completely on their own.
Her pediatrician never recommended speech therapy through early intervention? I think you should get her evaluated asap. The earlier services are put in place the better. You might already be doing some of these things but in the meantime, narrate everything you do, read to her, no “baby talk”, a lot of moms say Ms. Rachel has been helpful in their child’s learning, and I have abc mouse downloaded for both my kids.
