Colostrum harvesting
Have been told I can now start expressing colostrum, and been given syringes by the midwife to collect in. She didn’t really run through how to do it - do I express onto eg. a spoon and then syringe up from that, or do I try and suck the drops straight from my nipple into the syringe? I’ve not found any helpful videos online of how to actually COLLECT in the syringe, although seems to be plenty of how to actually express 🤷🏼♀️

Them little pots you get from TT with like a bottle set or similar, i sterilised them, collected what I could from hand expressing and then used a syringe to suck it up, that was easiest way for me!😊 x
I have just tried for the first time this evening and could only get a tiny amount but collected straight into the syringe. Am hoping to try again soon for a bit more.
Thanks ladies, sounds like it’s a case of whatever works best. I tried today after a bath and did straight into syringe / syringed off nipple directly and that worked perfect ☺️
