Naps

My baby is 4 months old nearly 5 and will only contact nap apart from the pram or car seat - anyone else like this and how did you get them to nap independently in their bed ?

Persistence. My girl will fall asleep on me within minutes, then I transfer her into her cot for naps if we are at home. It can sometimes take like 3 attempts to do so with her waking up every time she touches the cot but usually it’s straight away and she will stay there for 30/40mins. Twice recently she has woke up, looked around, and gone back to sleep for another half hour which has been fab. I’m confident that’s because she knows where she is and feels comfortable. She used to wake up and look panicked like she didn’t recognise where she was so I would get her very used to where you want to sleep as much as you can.

She sleeps in there at night so I don’t know why she won’t nap in there during day

Ahh my girl sleeps in her bedroom cot for naps and her next to me crib next to my bed at night so she has to ‘get used’ to the cot at first. I would still say persistence is key!

I posted almost the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago! We now manage a nap in her bed occasionally like once a day but still only a short one (once or twice a weirdly long one which has been bloody lovely). We just replicate her night time environment as close as possible and persevere even when she's fighting it. Extra rocking and patting etc

My boy used to be a contact napper only but never had an issue with bed times. I made his naps like bedtime (dark, white noise, sleep sack) and always in his next to me upstairs as I figured that’s where he was happy. I just persisted offered him that at every nap and if he got really upset or it took more than 15 mins we headed back downstairs and tried again next time. He soon picked them up and now only wants to nap independently 😂

Persistence, keep putting them in their cot

I third persistence. I've resorted to BF to sleep and then transferring. Sometimes takes a few times and they get it. So long as they fall asleep in the same room imo
