Thank you SO much!! It's so reassuring to know it's not just my son, and the advice in that link is brilliant too. Thank you ever so much Rachael and I'm glad to hear things are already improving for your little boy! ☺️
My little one has a stammer too! She’s only started doing it recently, and it’s only at certain times! I’m going to look at that link too (thank you for sharing ☺️). She’s always been a really good talker even from a young age, so I assumed it was because her brain was trying to catch up haha!
No worries. Every child is different, but for my boy it seemed to progress from stuttering on the first sound like my first example to then repeating the first word over and over…. He’d repeat ‘stick’ about 10 times before he would say ‘stick man’ I just every time, heard him out and asked all family to do the same rather than to jump in, and always model back. I was worried as it seemed to be more of the basic sentences he would reel off anytime, rather than new things he had to think about. I didn’t understand why he would suddenly struggle. I’m sure it’ll be the same for your boy! Hope it all goes well.
So glad I came across your post, my son has been stuttering for a while now and as much as I know it’s fairly normal it’s still concerning. He’s got sooo many words and I think his brain is sometimes going quicker than his mouth. We’ve got his 2 year check tomorrow with the HV so I’ll mention it and report back!
Yes we’ve had the same. Started about a month ago literally overnight and seems to be improving now slowly. Sounds a developmental phase from what I’ve read
I could have written this myself! My daughter seemed leagues ahead of her peers with her speech for ages and ages and then in March just started stuttering! I was so worried, but like others have said, it seems to be improving already! Reassuring to know others are in the same boat!!
Hi there, I’m a children’s speech and language therapist and a mummy of a 2 y 5 month old. It’s really common in this age group especially as they’re learning to try and say so much quickly. My little boy does the same too!
Yes!!! My little boys speech was coming on brilliantly and it seemed like overnight he started stuttering. ‘Mu mu mu mu mu mu mummy read the book!’ Etc. I was really worried. This really helped. I paid close attention to the tips of how to deal with it. It seems to already be stopping (about a month or so later). I think it’s a common developmental phase. https://toddlertalk.com/blog/toddler-stuttering
