Transitioning to crib?

Has anyone transitioned their LO to a crib yet? Our baby is still in a bedside bassinet but he's starting to show signs of rolling over. I'm suddenly feeling very sad about the idea of my little baby sleeping in his nursery all alone! I'm thinking of putting the crib in our room for now. Wouldn't have thought I'd feel this way when I was pregnant! My question is: have you transitioned to cribs for overnight sleeping yet? Why or why not? Any tips to make it easier on both baby and me?

Hey lovely! We did a pack n play that had a bassinet and we switched our LO to the infant part of the pack n play and out of the bassinet at exactly 3 months old bc she was showing signs of rolling as well! We like the pack n play bc we can keep it in our room but move it around easily if need be. Once we do the last feed of the night we burp her and put her in her swing until she falls asleep and then we transfer her to her pack n play! My baby loves the sound of rain on her sound machine and we also use a paci. She sleeps through the night now with only minor cries here and there! Ive heard not to get a crib bc some babies do not like cribs and hardly use them.

My little one is in a pack and play next to our bed. She is pretty long so had to transition from bassinet to pack and play early on. My first I switched her to her crib at 4 months because she was rolling and I didn’t have a pack and play with her. Crib was in our room until about 8 months. It gave me and her enough time to adjust to the new bed. She was in a floor bed by 13 months. If you choose to transition fully into own room I’d say just spend more time in there to help them adjust to that room more than your room 🙂

This is a dumb question but do i have to transition baby out of bassinet if she is rolling? Why? She’s definitely getting too big for bassinet and she is full on rolling but all sides are mesh

@Liz I wondered this too, and yes, apparently it's dangerous for the baby since them rolling makes the bassinet unstable. I use a Halo Bassinest and that's what the instructions said.

Hi! I just transferred her to her crib/nursery last week. I started with daytime naps in there and have always done her bed time routine in there. It took about 2 nights to adjust (frequent wake ups) but I just worked on helping her feel safe/comfortable in there. She sleeps through the night in there now! Wasn’t as bad of a transition as I thought. I was sad about the switch too but I honestly sleep so much better now so that’s been really nice. I just keep the baby monitor on my nightstand so I can hear right when she wakes up or needs me.

@Drew good to know about babies not liking cribs. Luckily ours was cheap! I will look into getting a pack n play. Did you purchase a mattress for yours?

@Kelsea such kind and helpful words, thank you! I am afraid I won't sleep as well since I can't check on him as easily. It is really nice to hear that it's probably an easier transition than I'm imagining. ♥️

Two months ago we went to the aquarium and when we came back we put our baby in the crib and he just slept the whole night, we didn’t do anything really but we noticed since we brought him from the hospital that he hated the bassinet and since that day of the aquarium, he keeps on in the crib but I miss him, the first days after I was decided to go to sleep with him in the crib but realized my weight might break the crib, so I just stayed in my bed 🤣

@Brenda Thissss we have an extra bed for guests in the nursery and I'm like 👀 dat bed looks comfy enough lmao

We had baby in a bed side bassinet from NB to 2 months then to a pack n play 2-3 and now at 3 going on 4 months she’s in her crib

I put my daughter in a crib as soon as she came home. She slept so much better in the crib then the bassinet anyway.

@Brianna that's really interesting. What do you think makes her like the crib more? Teach me your ways haha!

Well she almost 7 yo now but she seemed to really love the crib. She would sleep in it all night without crying. The bassinet, she cried all the time. Idk tbh....maybe the mattress was more comfortable. Idk I wish I knew, but I was just happy she liked it. I lived in Vegas at the time and my mom sent me that 5 in 1 crib all the way from Tennessee.
