Rtf bottles

I've taken 3 packs (18 feeds) in my hospital bag. I'm due to have a c section at 38+1 and unsure how many I'll actually need to take. I'm expecting to be in hospital for 3 days. I can't rely on the hospital to top me up with feeds as I'll be using kendamil and I don't think they stock that brand.

They're gonna need to eat around every 3 hours. And once the ready to feed bottles are opened, unless you're decanting and the remainder going into a fridge, they can only last 1 hour after baby starts to drink. So based on a 24 hour rough stay, on single use, you'd need 24 for 3 days. Not sure if you could just take some, and then get someone to bring you more as you need it, if you stay in closer to the 3 day marker?

So ive only bought 1 box of ready to feed but im taking some powder and bottles. Could you do that?

He got one box of ready to feed. You will have plenty!!! I got told (unless anything goes wrong) they only keep you in for max 30hours c section x

@Rebekah my hospital said they don't allow people to make feeds up with powder xx

@Zoe this is my 3rd section. I can't remember how many my first went through. My second was in nicu so didn't have to worry how many to provide xx I've had to stay in for 3-4 days previously because I struggled to wee after catheter removal xx

Do you have a birth partner that can bring more if you need it?

Oh thats a shame. We've checked with ours they said they will help us with it at weve never done it before. If you have someone that can bring tou extra then im.sure you'll be fine if not you could always take too many and just use them at home x

I had my midwife visit yesterday before my c section next week and she said I should be fine with 12, based of a 24-36 hour stay in hospital. Baby’s stomach is the size of a 1p coin when they’re born so they don’t drink a lot. I have 2 x 6 packs of the ready to feed kendamil with the teats. And then if I’m in longer or I need more, I have the pre made bottles of Kendamil without teats, which I’ll get my partner to bring in just in case, or have them stored in the boot of the car. Some hospitals allow you to store things in their fridge, so you could store the leftovers in the fridge and use within 24 hours Xx
