Help!!

My son who is now 7 months has been exclusively breastfed but I’m now at a point where I don’t want to breastfeed anymore. My partner and I have both tried to get him to take a bottle but he won’t! He just screams as soon as we try, we have offered him different types of bottle as well! Can anyone give some help on how to get him to take a bottle🤦🏻‍♀️

Have you changed the teat in the bottle to a faster flowing one? Also try playing around with the temperature of the milk?

I would start with giving a bottle to sleep when its dark and baby will be used to being fed at that time. We used MAM bottles teat size 0 at first, you could try with size 1 too. I would smile and sing to my baby when offering the bottle, keeping eye contact is the key. I then started doing it during the day with same method, eye contact, singing and smiling. After she accepted the bottle of me my husband tried a few days later with success. I would start with offering your own expressed milk, heated up to nice temprature and eventually move onto formula once bottle is accepted if thats what you wish to do. I think its just easier with breastmilk as at least the taste is familiar to them. As for you I found drinking sage helped dry up my supply fast and when they were sore, I would put pierced cabbage leaves inside my bra (did that for a few days non stop).

My baby wouldn’t take a bottle either so I’ve been giving her a sippy cup to play with and drink water out of it and she takes it now so just a thought if you haven’t already tried that

I have recently successfully done this, baby same age and EBF, offer the bottle DAILY, consistently, They need to learn it. Cant expect them to know straight away. Every single day, same time. I did this for a week straight and now having to stop breastfeeding cos he prefers bottle and formula. Also I started giving it to him as a night time bottle before bed so it became a routine too. Donate exact same thing everyday, Goodluck x
